The National Trust village of Lacock where Cranford and parts of Harry Potter were filmed is essential, the houses in the village are beautiful and a visit to The Fox Talbot museum of photography would put a great finish to your day.

Stourhead Gardens

The 18th century Palladian mansion and gardens at Stourhead are well worth a visit for anyone who appreciates beautiful English country parks.

Avebury Stone Circle & Avebury Manor & Gardens

Avebury contains the largest stone circle in Europe, and is one of the best known prehistoric sites in Britain.


A significant part of the land of the Stonehenge World Heritage Site is owned by the National Trust. Many scheduled ancient monuments are located here including Woodhenge, the Stonehenge Cursus, the Avenue and Durrington Walls. A number of barrows can also be found within National Trust land. The Nile Clumps near Amesbury are reputed to commemorate the Battle of the Nile.
